The vocabulary word is mane - the long hair growing on the neck of a horse.

Gross Motor Skills Activity:  (Monday)

Ride on a hobby horse.  If you don't have one, create one with a short broom handle, or even a wrapping paper roll.  You can ride your hobby horse while reciting the poem "My Horse" above.

Fine Motor Skills Activity:  (Friday)

Glue a mane on a printout of a horse with cuttings of yarn.
 

Shape/Color  (Tuesday)

This week you will teach the color brown.

• Introduce the color by coloring in the rectangle (previous week's shape) on your learning poster with a brown crayon.
• Put on a brown article of clothing.
• Point out objects around your home of the color brown.
• Add the color to a meal by choosing a brown food, or using a plate, cup, or utensil of the color brown.
• Let your child color in a coloring book or on a printout using a brown crayon.

The letter this week is the letter N.

• Give your child a printout of the (capital) letter N to color.  ~Letter Printouts~
• Teach your child to trace the shape of the letter N using her finger.  You can trace in pudding, finger paint, a shallow tray (cookie sheet) filled with rice or beans, etc.
• Point out the letter N in signs, cereal boxes, etc.
• Post the letter N on your learning poster.

The number this week is the number 14.

• Show your child 14 objects to count, or eat 14 mini crackers, 14 cheerios, etc.
• Show your child the written symbol (numeral) for 14 and put on your learning poster.
• Add 14 stickers to your counting book.
• Show your matching index cards for the number 14 to your child.
• Draw 14 rectangles on a piece of paper and count them with your child.
• Walk around your home counting 14 of many different objects.

The nursery rhyme this week is Ride a Cock Horse.  Recite often!
