The vocabulary word is flake - a flake is usually a thin, small, flat piece of something.  Snow falls in flakes.

Gross Motor Skills Activity:  (Monday)

~If you are fortunate enough to have snow outside... go and make a snowman, snow angels, or throw some snowballs!

~Act out building a snowman.

Fine Motor Skills Activity:  (Friday)

~You can make a snowflake.  Fold a paper twice and help your child make some cuts.  Then fold the paper one or two more times and finish the cuts yourself.  Open the paper and see the pretty snowflake!

~Make a cotton ball snowman.  Glue cotton balls on a sheet of black construction paper, to make a snowman.  With a white crayon you can add falling snow and snow on the ground.
 

Shape/Color  (Tuesday)

This week you will teach the shape of a hexagon.

• Collect 3 - 5 everyday objects in the shape of a hexagon... this may be more difficult so you can make a few out of paper, felt, wood, etc... to share with your child and discuss.
• Cut hexagons out of playdough or cookie dough... bake the cookies!
• Put a drawing of a hexagon on your learning poster.
• Snowflakes are hexagonal in shape!

The letter this week is the letter W.

• Give your child a printout of the (capital) letter W to color.  ~Letter Printouts~
• Teach your child to trace the shape of the letter W using his finger.  You can trace in pudding, finger paint, a shallow tray (cookie sheet) filled with rice or beans, etc.
• Point out the letter W in signs, cereal boxes, etc.
• Post the letter W on your learning poster.

The number this week is the number 23.

• Show your child 23 objects to count, or eat 23 raisins, 23 cheerios, etc.
• Show your child the written symbol (numeral) for 23 and put on your learning poster.
• Add 23 stickers to your counting book.
• Show your matching index cards for the number 23 to your child.
• Draw 23 hexagons on a piece of paper and count them with your child.
• Walk around your home counting up to 23 objects.

The nursery rhyme this week is Little Miss Muffet.  Recite often!

Little Miss Muffet sat on a tuffet,
Eating her curds and whey;
Along came a spider, who sat down beside her,
